 Go sightseeing!

Here in Newcastle, there are many things to see and do. The city is so diverse, you’ll find a mixture of famous landmarks and quirky spots! Here are some, just to name a few…

The Angel of the North

Believe it or not, The Angel of the North is Britain’s largest sculpture, which is a reason in itself to go and visit it! It’s also thought to be the largest Angel sculpture in the world! It is a definite must-see during your time at uni.

 BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Art

This art gallery is actually located on the Gateshead side of the River Tyne. Overlooking the picturesque Quayside itself (from the viewing point right at the top), BALTIC is the largest contemporary art institution of its kind in the world.

As we have just mentioned, the Quayside is lovely just to look at but it also has plenty of interesting bars along the way!

Go to a Newcastle United match

This might not sound like everyone’s cup of tea, but Newcastle United matches are not ones to miss out on. The atmosphere is great, and all in all, it is a memorable day out.  

Have a day at the coast

Because of the Tyne and Wear Metro system across the North East, it is now so easy to get around Newcastle by train. Taking a trip down to the coast has never been simpler! Take a day trip with your flatmates to Tynemouth beach – even during the colder months it’s still worth a visit.

 Go on a night out

This is probably a given and the first thing you will do as a fresher! But Newcastle has been voted for as one of the best nights out in Europe. So it seems like you have picked the right place if you want to party!
