Just moved to Newcastle? What’s next?

It has been said that Newcastle upon Tyne is one of the happiest places to live in the UK! So if you’ve just relocated to the North East for university or even work, then stay tuned to find out some of the best things to do while you’re here and our top tips for getting the most out of your time in the city!

Newcastle Nightlife

Newcastle’s nightlife needs no introduction! Here in the Toon, there is a real mix of classy cocktail bars, clubs and amazing restaurants. If you’re a student then you’ll have no trouble finding club nights dedicated to freshers. Saying that, if the student scene is not your thing, or you have moved to Newcastle for work, then Ouseburn is a great place for day, evening or even late night drinks! Ouseburn is where you will find all your quirky, real ale pubs accompanied with live music. Fancy an indoor area where food and drink establishments are right next to each other? Well then take a trip along to The Gate. A venue packed full of bars, restaurants and even a cinema – what more could you need?!

Daytime activities

Now you are a bit more versed with some of the evening activities Newcastle has to offer, we will fill you in on the day-to-day goings on in the Toon. The North East is not just a ‘City Centre’, we have a coastline of glorious beaches and sights to see! The Tyne and Wear Metro runs all over the North East, making daily travel super easy and simple. Just hop on a metro and head down to Tynemouth for the day – here you will find Longsands beach, the market (hint – right on the Metro Station platform), and also lots of lovely cafes and restaurants. This makes a great day out for friends and family.

 Tyne and Wear Metro Guide

Now, as previously mentioned running throughout Newcastle is a train service called The Metro. If you are not familiar with this then keep reading and we will fill you in with some tips and tricks to making getting around Newcastle even easier.  Here is the Tyne and Wear Metro map – it may seem complicated however there are actually only two different lines and trains, so don’t worry, you will soon get your head around it! To check your travel route just head to the Tyne and Wear Metro website – it’s super easy to use.
